Pop Up Swap Shop

In a bid to encourage everyone to recycle and re-use their clothes, instead of always buying brand new, we ran our own ‘pop up swap shop’. Families donated clothes that were pre-loved, so that they could find a new home.

Did you know that that 85% of clothing is eventually incinerated or sent to landfill! That means a rubbish truck full of clothes is burned or landfilled every second!

Fashion is actually responsible for 10% of global carbon dioxide output, more than international flights and shipping combined.

Plastic in the ocean

Beach Clean

Every year we take the children on a trip to the beach, but this year we have used it as an opportunity to raise their awareness of marine life and the devastating impact that litter and plastic can have on it. We arranged a litter pick at the beach with Thanet Council, who provided us with all the equipment!

Did you know that 80% of our beach litter has made it there from land.

Did you know that 30% of all beach cleans last year found face masks and PPE!

Compost Guide
All you need for a successful compost heap is waste, air and water!

Create you own Compost Bin

This year we have created two compost bins for our food waste. We built them from scratch with the children in our Green Team.

The benefits of composting your garden and kitchen waste are two-fold. You’re reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and providing a habitat for a range of minibeasts. The community of minibeasts who live among the waste help the decaying process, and in turn, these beasts are a delicious food source for hedgehogs and other animals.
